he rose quickly because the at that time black people were gaining power and some were fed up. the alternate movement to MLK and hisa peaceful resistance. It scared people because you had armed malitia in the u.s., which was unheard of since colonial days. Some saw it as wrong because it was just reverse racism. Malcom X went to the arab world to learn more about islam, and there he learned that they did not hate others because of their skin color. If he was to be a true muslim he would have to drop the hate, which he did in the end.
