What are some tips to improve my batting technique?

I'm a right hand batsman and normally when the bowler comes over the wicket, i stand with a slightly open stance (only a touch). When the bowler comes around the wicket i stand with more of an open stance. I watch the ball come out of the bowlers hand and lift my bat as he's about to release, but then for some reason i take my eyes off the ball and premediate it. But sometimes i dont hit it right and i get edges and mishit it to fielders. How can i stop this.
