How do I schedule a meeting with a prosecutor before the scheduled hearing?
I have received a speeding ticket in Lewis County, WA, for going 72/55. I know that most of the people hire lawyers to take care of their speeding tickets for them, but lawyers are expensive and since this is only my second violation in 7 years that I have had my license (the first one was dismissed after deferral), I thought I would take my chances trying to make a plea with the Prosecutor to Amend it from speeding to Inattentive Driving. My primary concern is that I don't want my insurance rates to go up, and it seems like majority of lawyers just get the charges amended down. I requested a contested hearing and got back my notice of hearing. So now as far as I understand I should just meet with a prosecutor to discuss an amendment to the original charge. But how would I go about that?
